1st day Journey to Berlin
2nd day - Berlin Big tour of Berlin including the Kurfürstendamm, Victory Column, Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, the avenue Unter den Linden, the Island of Museums, Alexander Square and the Nikolai Quarter. In addition you are shown Fontane's house in Luisenstraße and you have the possibility to look at Fontane memorabilia in the Museum of Hugenottes in the French Dome in Gendarmen Square.
3rd day - Excursion into the land of Ruppin Journey to Neuruppin. Let yourself be inspired by picturesque sights on a guided walk through the birthtown of the architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel and Theodor Fontane. See the Löwen Pharmacy where Fontane was born and the regional museum with exhibitions dedicated to Fontane and Schinkel. Via Lindow with its monastery dating from the 13th century and the area called Ruppin Switzerland - praised by Fontane in his "Travels through the Mark Brandenburg" - you reach Rheinsberg Chateau and and Stechlin Lake. This lake, the clearest in the Mark - situated in Menzer Forest that is full of gorges - has become literature thanks to Fontane's descriptions. Journey back to Berlin in the evening.
4th day - Tagesausflug nach Potsdam Fontane was introduced to Potsdam and its surroundings by another German writer, Theodor Storm, who lived in the Dutch quarter. Bornstedt and its parish land, Great Glienicke and the swans on the River Havel are all parts of Fontane's "Travels...". After a tour and a stoll through the old garrison town you follow Fontane to Sanssouci. Visit one of the best known palaces of Friedrich II. Continue along the Havel, past fields and lowlands, rivers and lakes to Caputh, the "Chicago of Lake Schwielow" or Werder. This town with its narrow lanes is situated on an island and is famous for the annual flower festival. There is the opportunity to taste fruit wines. Journey back to Berlin.
5th day Journey home/further programme
Changes of the programme are not intended. However, they cannot be excluded despite maximal care during preparation!
